The Fundamentals of Asset Finance is constructed to provide a clear and structured approach to understanding asset finance products and what they mean to lenders and customers alike.
Delegates will explore how these products work and how they impact on the receiving organisation including a basic understanding of the impacts on accounting, contractual liabilities and tax.
Delegates will look through the eyes of an Asset Finance company and begin to appreciate the risks and rewards of lending through assets and understand the high level business processes that go towards running an asset finance company.
The course and its supporting assessment activities give learners an excellent grounding in Asset Finance which can be either applied in a procurement role as a receiver in this type of funding or within the business of asset finance itself.

driven product names and schemes on offer fit into the formal classification of asset finance products. These include: structured lease, minimum term lease, long term hire, contract hire and others. - The course takes the learner through an introductory explanation of the balance sheet and profit and loss account & shows how different products impact on the financial reports of customers using asset finance.
- Explains the importance of working capital and cash flow to gain an understanding of how and why asset finance is used within a business.
- Shows how different asset finance products impact ownership, company taxation and VAT.
- Demonstrates the effects on cash flow that different asset finance products have.
- An overview of the differences in needs and expectations seen in different organisation types: PLC companies, private companies, life style businesses, and the public sector.
- Presents an overview of the consumer credit act 1974 and 2006.
- Explanation of extra rules specific to the education sector: Department of Children Schools and Families (DCSF), NHS and local government.
- Describes the rules in place for money laundering and data protection.
- Presents the asset finance value chain and how different organisations operate with different parts of the value chain: sellers of equipment, brokers, lessors and funding providers.
- Presents an overview of a typical asset finance company process model and a high level examination of how it undertakes its business.
- An overview of the value of time and money and how calculations are made to create the pricing for asset finance products including: Net Present Value, Yield, IRR and annuity based payment calculations.
- An explanation of how risk is evaluated by credit risk managers and what they look out for and consider whilst approving or declining a case.
- An overview of the most common types of fraud facing asset finance organisations is presented.
- Explanation of how a risk manager can mitigate the risk of fraud as part of the underwriting process.
